Battery Trolleybuses

We have replaced trolleybuses with auxiliary diesel units with new, more environmentally friendly vehicles driven by batteries.

What’s the aim of the project?

Replace existing trolleybuses with an auxiliary diesel generator with new ones driven by battery.

What’s the result of the project?

Since February 2017, the Pilsen City transport Company has been successfully testing new trolleybuses with an alternative battery drive, which are even more environmentally friendly and offer greater comfort for passengers and drivers.

Their operation has been problem-free so far and the purchase of these vehicles is planned in the future, when they should replace all trolleybuses with an auxiliary diesel generator. Vehicles with an auxiliary drive are used mainly on lines serving the outskirts of the city or during closures.

The main advantages of battery trolleybuses:

  • reduction of CO2 emissions
  • lower noise
  • greater comfort for passengers and drivers
  • no problems with overheating in the summer months
  • easier operation

Trolleybuses and trams, i.e. environmentally friendly options, make up two-thirds of all municipal public transport in Pilsen.

  • Lower emissions
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Lower noise level
