SITMP, the IT company of the City of Pilsen, is building a completely unique autonomous mobility laboratory at the TechTower technology park. We want to equip it with intelligent equipment for traffic planning and for testing of application solutions with significant support from the 5G network. This builds on our other autonomous mobility projects, such as the Bory test polygon.
The Mobility Innovation Lab is being created to provide talented young people, local entrepreneurs and innovative companies with the opportunity to work with and test their sustainable mobility solutions on the high-speed 5G network. SITMP creates unique facilities for them, educate them, and develop their talent, giving them opportunities within the Pilsen Innovation Ecosystem PINE. Its activities in the field of traffic solutions go beyond the Pilsen region. However, it is necessary to concentrate technologically and innovatively oriented companies and give them the opportunity to work with 5G technologies. That is why the Mobility Innovation Lab is being created in TechTower.
Aims of the project:
- to create an open technology, data, and experimentation environment for diverse innovation groups using the 5G network in the field of sustainable mobility,
- to enable the technology community to perform advanced data collection from the city’s existing C-ITS system and subsequent traffic analyses,
- to nurture and develop local talent in order to attract more innovators to Pilsen.
Results of the project:
- effective use of data from the existing C-ITS system of the city, modelling of traffic situations,
- greater integration of autonomous mobility into the PINE ecosystem,
- implementation of the long-term urban mobility strategy of the city of Pilsen (extension of the city’s infrastructure and capacities),
- development in the field of modern traffic trends with positive benefits for the population,
- increased competitiveness of the city and the region.
The project entitled “5G Mobility Innovation Lab Pilsen” started in January 2024 and will run until December 2025. The project is funded by the European Union under the National Recovery Plan. The total costs amount to CZK 15.4 million excluding VAT.
