EUREKA (Interreg Europe)

Environment

SITMP represent the city of Pilsen in an international project funded from the Interreg Europe programme, which aims to support local policy change towards climate-neutral cities and regions.

The international project EUREKA (European URban Exchanging Knowledge on climAte Neutrality), funded by the Interreg Europe programme, focuses on strengthening cities and regions in the transition to climate neutrality. The four-year project aims to support policy change in the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of strategies leading to climate neutral cities and regions.

The project engages various partners to share know-how through international exchanges and capacity building, and to jointly identify successful approaches to further adapt to their local conditions.

Good practices – best practices from different European regions that have brought positive impacts in the field of climate neutrality – play a crucial role in the project. The project partners systematically map these examples, evaluate their transferability, and share them in international seminars. The aim is to support the application of these approaches in the local context, and to make climate strategies more effective through concrete and proven solutions.

Aims of the project:

  • Modify the approach to designing and managing policies towards climate neutrality at the city and regional level.
  • Promote the exchange of experiences between European partners and use best practices to improve public policies.
  • Strengthen the capacity of local governments in transition management, financing, inter-sectoral cooperation and measuring the impact of climate strategies.

Results of the project:

  • Improving the public policies of the actors involved by transferring examples of good practice.
  • A set of adapted solutions to be tested in the local context of each partner.
  • A handbook of best practices and procedures, which will contain proven examples from across Europe with potential for further use.
  • Stronger stakeholder involvement in the climate transformation governance process.
  • Outputs will lead to more effective, coordinated and measurable implementation of policies towards climate neutrality at regional and city level.

Eleven partners from different European cities and regions are working together on the EUREKA project. It brings together local and regional authorities, public institutions and expert organisations from Italy, France, Greece, Czech Republic, Spain, Belgium, Poland, Ireland, Finland, Ukraine and Sweden. The partners collaborate to share experiences and best practices, with the aim of improving regional climate-neutrality policies.

The project is conceived for 4 years (starting on 1 May 2025, ending on 31 July 2029) and is coordinated by the Italian city of Prato. The EU budget for the City of Pilsen, which is represented in the project by SITMP, is 197 900 €. Project Identification: Interreg Europe 03C0722 – EUREKA.
