SITMP provides extensive services to the city’s kindergartens and primary schools – it equips them with the appropriate technology and software licences, solves their requirements, and modernises their computer networks. In particular, LAN data networks have undergone significant reconstruction in recent years. In autumn 2023, the User Support Department completed the modernization of networks in primary schools.
The work in the kindergartens is approximately halfway through, and the work plan is set until 2026. Depending on the budget possibilities and cooperation with the city districts in which the kindergartens are located, the project will be evaluated and possibly continued.
Aim of the project:
- To provide services and support to the city managed kindergarten and elementary schools.
- To upgrade their LAN data networks.
- To provide schools with faster, higher quality and more secure internet connections.
- To connect school facilities to the city’s fibre optic network.
- To provide access to schools through new RFID chip technology for parents and staff.
- To ensure that schools can also be connected to the city camera system, in cooperation with the city.
Result of the project:
- Stable and secure internet connection in schools.
- High-quality LANs, increasing the possibilities of teaching methods and the integration of modern technologies.
- Central administration thanks to the city’s fibre optic network – email, unified school information system, city cloud, etc.
An overview of the reconstructed networks in 2023 and the plan for the following years can be found on the City of Pilsen website.
